I’m so glad I squeezed this book in this week! The last book I read of Tilly’s was Little Acts of Love when I was a newbie book blogger. I gotta say, Tilly has upped her writing game! Seriously. I loved Little Acts but Rome is Where the Heart is totally showed me how good an author can get as they continue writing! Wow!
Kate is such a great character and the opening scene is enough to make anyone want to read through the book quickly hoping that she will end up with a happy ending. I so felt for her, having her childhood sweetheart, and then her long time husband, walk out on her! My heart broke right there in the first chapter. I loved the reaction of her sisters too. They were so sincerely worried about Kate and being you grow apart a tad as an adult even when you’re siblings they had a hard time telling her exactly what they were feeling. Isn’t that just so true to life?
Then there is Rome. Now, I’ve never been to Rome, I’d love too, but I haven’t made it so far. Tilly wrote Rome in such a fabulous way that I felt like I’d been there. I could picture it in detail, the shops, the food, the exploring, such fun! I loved the characters, the travel, the city and just the overall feel of this book. It was fun, funny and I routed for Kate right from the first page.
Nice details were some of the sideline stories that Tilly threw in, such as the dress making, Kate’s sisters, her new gay American BFF Jamie and all the little things that came along with Alessandro. I read this in 1 day because I just couldn’t put it down. That’s how I know a book is fantabulous.
-That through the entire book I just kept thinking to myself, WOW, Tilly has so improved in her writing, story telling, everything. I love seeing that from authors!
-Rome – I’ve never been there, but love when an author can make me feel that I have. Tilly definitely did this well.
-Sometimes when I read a book I don’t jive with all the characters for some reason. I did with this one. I can’t honestly say there was a specific character that I didn’t love. Everyone involved seemed to really make the story what it was.
-The cover! How gorgeous is this cover? If there is one publisher I always know will do a great chick lit books cover proud, it’s Bookouture.
Absolutely! If you’ve never read one of Tilly’s books, I definitely recommend that you do. She’s been a great writer since the beginning BUT she’s even better now. I see such great potential for her as an author. I can’t wait to read her next book.
If you love chick lit, you will LOVE Tilly Tennant. She does the genre proud!
Say Hello to author Tilly Tennant!
From a young age, Tilly Tennant was convinced that she was destined for the stage. Once she realised she wasn’t actually very good at anything that would put her on the stage, she started to write stories instead. There were lots of terrible ones, like The Pet Rescue Gang (aged eight), which definitely should not see the light of day ever again. Thankfully, her debut novel, Hopelessly Devoted to Holden Finn was not one of those, and since it hit the Amazon best seller lists she hasn’t looked back. Born in Dorset, she currently lives in Staffordshire with her husband, two daughters, three guitars, four ukuleles, two violins and a kazoo.
Don’t miss any of the stops on this fabulous book tour!
Thank you, Tilly & Kim @ Bookouture, for allowing me to feature this fabulous new release, Rome is Where the Heart is on For the Love for Chick Lit. As usual this cover is absolutely fabulous and I’m so excited to have this book on my TBR list!
