This is the first book of Karen’s that I’ve read and I really enjoyed it. When I was much younger I was totally addicted to ‘Days of our Lives’. So the fact that this book’s main character Martin is a soap opera writer was intriguing for me. I loved reading about his writing process to come up with the crazy soap opera ideas. What a sad twist that his writing partner and love of his life was deceased unexpectedly. I could really see his pain in losing her.
Martin has 8 kids! That’s a lot of kids and each one came with their own personality and quirks. That was a fun thing to read. I don’t think I’ve ever read a book where one of the main character has a huge family of 8 kids. The kids were fun to read and see their take on their new world without their mother and watching their dad start to enter the dating world. They seemed more ready than he did!
The book is a sweet romance about two long time friends and co-workers who finally realize they might be meant for each other. Martin has the hardest time with this after just losing his wife. But watching the transformation in both Martin and Roxanne is great. You can see that they will make an amazing pair if they can just get past their quirks and issues. And the kids are really all for it.
I really liked reading about some of the older kids and their lives. They kept the story moving with their own ideas and problems and it was great to see just how Martin and Roxanne fit into each spot in their lives.
What I Loved:
-I loved how sweet and almost ‘innocent’ this book is. It’s refreshing to see that point of view in a romance novel.
-The soap opera aspect. Soaps are complicated and Karen wrote it well.
What I didn’t Love:
-There is a lot of characters and at times I had a hard time keeping up. Not enough to make me dislike the book though.
What I thought of the Cover:
-I LOVED the cover. It’s professional, gorgeous and perfectly fitting of the story inside.
This is a great first in a series by Karen. I can see this writer moving up in the charts. It’s a fantastic read with a storyline that hasn’t been done a load because of all of the kiddos involved. I like reading about each character and what they were thinking of the overall happenings in the book. I closed the book really liking all of these characters and I’ve no doubt you will too!

About the Author:
Karen Tomsovic lives and writes in the Pacific Northwest, where she stares out her kitchen window thinking up new ways to describe clouds. Her two pet parrots (aka “permanent toddlers”), Teddy and Daisy, interrupt her as often as possible. Like her owner, Daisy loves to devour a good book, but she does so in a more literal sense. Teddy makes a great muse. He says Mommy should have a bird in every book. Mommy says she’ll try.
