I loved this book. When I was in college, I was in a creative writing class with a young man who wrote a story about a mans entrance into heaven and it captured me at the time. I had never heard anything written the way he had written this story and even while it was just a short story, I’ve thought of how that story would play out as a full book for 10 years. Within a couple pages of ‘Where is Emma Butler’s Life Plan?, I was brought back to the story I’d always loved and wondered about.
A story of a woman’s life told from the perspective of heaven. It’s fascinating and I couldn’t read the book fast enough. I don’t air it a lot but my family and I are followers of Jesus and we often wonder what Heaven might be like. We wonder if we have guardian angels and this book described that image that I feel SO many people have often wondered about, perfectly.
The characters in this book are witty, fun and not exactly how I picture an angel but so fun. The fact that there was an ‘error’ immediately grabs your attention and you wonder what exactly will happen with poor, recalled Emma. I so wanted to see everything she had wanted to happen but I just wasn’t sure how it would go with each page turned.
The book is well written, fun and so incredibly interested. I read this in one night and ignored my family the entire time I did it. Every-time I would put it down I would explain the book in detail to my husband who was so enthralled 😉 but he listened none the less.
What I Loved:
-The perspective of a book written from the viewpoints of guardian angels!
-This book is a quick read and such a fun one at that.
-It’s unique! Loved the way this was written and the characters included.
What I didn’t Love:
-That I haven’t found anymore like it!
What I thought of the Cover:
-LOVE. The cover is what attracted to me to the book and after reading it I can see it fits perfectly with the story.
This is the first book of Julia’s I’ve read and I am now a fan. I would LOVE to see more books written like this but so far haven’t. I highly suggest this fun, fictional, uniquely written book on a vacation or just a day on the lake. I plan to buy a paper-copy to keep with my favorites on my shelves.
I guarantee after reading this book, you’ll wonder if you’re close to a recall date and you’ll wonder just exactly what your guardian angel is going through trying to keep up with you.

Julia Wilmot began her exploration of the spiritual life as a teenager at school. She was fortunate to meet a wonderful family who all practised Transcendental Meditation (TM) and her future was set. At the age of 15 Julia learnt TM and felt she had found her path in life. She was so sure that this path was the only one for her that she decided not to go to University and study law as she had previously planned but to devote herself to teaching TM and working within the charity that teaches the technique.
At 20, Julia was one of the founding members of a 300 people strong TM community in Skelmersdale, Lancashire and at 28 Julia became the Centre Chairman of the largest teaching centre for TM in Europe, which was based in Central London. Teaching Transcendental Meditation to people from all walks of life.
Julia began this novel in 1995 but it remained in a drawer for many years. She came across it again in the early 2000s and fitting in with becoming a mother in 2002 it took until 2015 to finish it.
Julia currently focusses her attention on her writing, blogging and looking after her family. Forty years on and she still practises TM, as do her husband and son and they live in the Chilterns in Buckinghamshire, UK.
