This is the first book by this author I have read and it’s really a great one. The main character Caity Shaw (love the spelling of Caity) is a fabulous chick lit main character. She’s ditzy, her life is a mess and she’s not the smoothest in any situation yet somehow you love her. She’s had bad break after bad break and most of her days include some kind of ‘most embarrassing moment’ that can top the prior moment easily. She was fired from her job and is forced to take a job with her ‘not so close’ sister. You can imagine how that goes.
The up part, she gets to travel outside of the country for the first time ever but when you bank balance is as low as hers, that’s not always a good thing. I laughed out-loud way to many times and love some of the details Eliza throws in that you wouldn’t expect. For example, knickers isn’t only in the title… it’s everywhere! lol
The characters in the book are fabulous and I felt that each one added a lot of dimension to the story. There is the aspect of Caity trying to find herself and her talents in life and there is a ‘mystery’ that starts midway through the book and leaves us off with you needing to read book two (which I know is in the works!). It does great leading up to you absolutely having to read book two or you’ll never stop wondering. There is even a potential love aspect for Caity – fingers crossed!
Eliza is a great writer and does a great job with moving the story forward, making it impossible to set this book down to do anything besides ignore your responsibilities and read all day (which I never complain about). I read this book in one day and would highly recommend it to everyone I know. Classic chick lit at it’s finest for me!
What I Loved:
-The small details about Caity. She’s a character that you’ll fall in love with quickly and want to see succeed (even outdo her sister).
-Declan… I think he may become a new ‘book boyfriend’.
-It’s funny! Loads of laugh out loud moments which makes it a great light read.
What I didn’t Love:
-Waiting to find out what happens!!
What I thought of the Cover:
-Super cute, very fitting of the story and the genre. I’d definitely grab it off a bookstore shelf.
Buy a copy and bring this book on your next vacation. It’s quick, light and heartwarming and you definitely will be dying for book 2. It’s a great first from this author and I look forward to whatever else she writes. It’s for sure one of those books you’ll read on your kindle buy buy as a hard copy to display amongst your favs on your bookshelf.
