This is the first book I’ve read by Wendy and I really enjoyed it. She has a unique writing style that I liked a lot. I love a good book about weddings and this one did not disappoint.

Laura is the main character and she’s great right from the first page. I loved her and knew she’d be one of those characters that would get herself into some predicaments. She didn’t disappoint. Her longing to be a journalist, following in her father’s footsteps, was clear from the first chapter. I loved her determination and knowing she just had to do whatever possible to get there. Including taking an unpaid internship with a magazine.

I had the honor of reading this book earlier before publication and absolutely loved it. It’s one of those books that sticks with you months after you’ve read it.

Luz is the main character and is Dominican American. I’ll be honest here and say, I don’t know a lot about the Dominican cultures but it didn’t detour me from loving the book. Leslie has a way of making you feel like you’ve experienced the culture even when you haven’t.
